“Then He healed many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons ; and He did not allow the demons to speak, because they knew Him.” (Mar.1:34)
Why would Jesus not allow demons to speak when He would cast them out of people? Especially given the fact that they weren’t cursing or harassing Him, but were in fact paying homage to Him, declaring He was the Son of the Living God? The answer? He wanted no advertisement from them!
Every single one of us who have come to the saving knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ are called to tell others about His Saving Grace. When it comes to speaking to others about Christ, there are two types of Christians: those who can’t speak, and those who cannot but speak about Him! Let me ask you this if I may: are you living your life in such a way that He would want you to tell people about Him? Or would He rather do without your testimony given the way you live, the fruit you bare, for if you did testify you’d do more harm than good?
We’ve got so called Christians today who have forgotten it seems that they’ve been called to be salt and light in this world, and instead dress, talk and act like the world does, yet still profess to know Christ and even attempt to witness about Him, doing therefore more harm than good to the Kingdom of God! Fruit bearing must precede our testimony of Him! We must preach Him first and foremost with our deeds, and as someone so wisely said, if we must also use words, then do that too! Jesus said: “And these signs will follow those who believe…” (Mar.16:17). He didn’t say ‘these sins’ but… ‘these signs’! If we are indeed followers of Christ, His ‘fruit’ must follow everything we do! For if it doesn’t, sad as it may sound, the very One who said: “Go and tell…” to us He’ll say: “I’d rather you wouldn’t!”
